Our Pastor
In 2011, he celebrated 36 years in ordained ministry. He served congregations in Northern & Southern California and Wisconsin before moving to Illinois.
During his years at Advent, he has focused his work in building trust with the congregation, enhancing and expanding our Confirmation Ministry, and supporting staffing and programming for children, youth and families.
Pastor O'Brien also has a deep commitment to outdoor ministry, and is very involved with the Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Center in Oregon, Illinois.
His other interests include traveling, exercise and reading history. He is single, the father of two adult daughters and the proud "pop pop" of one grand daughter.
He and the Advent Congregation recently entered into a Five Year Covenant, for shared ministry through the Summer of 2017.
