Advent Morton Baptism

We gather at 9:00 AM on Sundays to pray, praise, lament together, and hear God's good news for us and the world.

Ours is a hybrid gathering: some in the building, some via zoom or our live-stream. You are invited to gather with us in the way that you are most comfortable and pray that it is a blessing for you.

We believe God calls us together from all times and places, just has God has always called the church together and we confess in our creeds and liturgy (that's the bit where we talk about the church on earth and the hosts of heaven; also, the part about the "great cloud of witnesses".)

We also gather on Tuesdays at 9:00 AM and Wednesdays at 6:30 PM via ZOOM for Morning and Evening Prayer.

We are liturgical in our worship but not overly formal.

We welcome children of all ages in worship. Come as you are. God loves you already.

Advent Serves

Advent has a heart for serving and does so through the Caring Cupboard in our parking lot, and through our connections with ministries and organizations in the Tri-County area.

We think passing our faith to younger generations is important, so we have opportunities to share faith stories and learn together. It's really about relationships: God's relationship with us, and how that impacts our relationships with each other.

Come join us in sharing God's love!

Becky Swanson

Dwelling in the Word (via Zoom)
We meet Wednesdays at 7:00 PM via Zoom. Check our Facebook page for the link or contact Pastor Becky. (School-aged children are welcome to this, too!)

Campfire Stories (Sundays at 6:30pm in the south parking lot)
Starting Sunday, May 30, 2021 we will gather around the fire (weather permitting) to hear lesser known stories from scripture and share stories from our own lives with one another.

Growing Faithful Read-along
"The Chronicles of Narnia" were written by C.S. Lewis and center around a group of children displaced by war. Sent away from their families for safety, they take refuge with a funny old uncle whose house holds some secrets.
The seven novels recount the adventures of the Pevensie children and those they meet in a place that doesn't seem possible.

We'll discuss one book a month. In September we are reading "Prince Caspian" and will discuss it on Sept 22, 2021 at 7:00pm via zoom).

What does this story have to with faith? Read it with someone you love and let's talk about it!

We hope you'll join us!

Pastor Becky Swanson

Hello, Beloved of God! I'm so pleased to be with you as your pastor.

Advent is a small-ish community of faith whose gifts are laughter, fun, and generosity. A place where each person is known and is important. If you are wondering whether Advent Lutheran is the place for you, I'd love to talk with you. We strive to be a place where people who are not sure if they belong in church can find a home.

Deacon Ellen Koester

I've been called to Advent to serve in the area of Faith Formation.

For me, it's all about relationships - God and us, others and us. While we are currently in a time when not being able to gather limits our usage of some of our regular tools, there are many more at our disposal as we continue on our faith journeys as individuals, couples, families, and community.

I would love to hear what you are doing these days. Send me an email with the link below.
